May Favourites

Hello!

So May is coming to an end and I thought, why not share some of the things I've been obsessed with this past month? Both beauty and non-beauty related. Enjoy!

Beauty Related

1. IT cosmetics bye bye pores powder
I bought this powder a few weeks ago from beautylish and I've been seriously loving it. Its quite pricey and a little messy (well, all loose powders are messy) to use, but I LOVE how good it makes my makeup look. My skin is severely oily and this powder helps a little with that. I do still oil up after a couple of hours, but what I love about this powder is that after I blot, my makeup still looks really good! With other powders, after blotting my oil off, my makeup tends to look really patchy and uneven. But after trying this powder, I didn't have that problem anymore! It reduces the look of my pores a little bit also. My pores are gigantic; nothing is going to make them invisible, but this powder helps a little. My makeup looks really smooth with it. I seriously love this powder!

2. Dose of Colors
Dose of colors isn't a new brand at all, but it is relatively new to me. I've wanted to try it for a long time but it's expensive. Especially the international shipping. So I held off buying it for a really long time, but I'm so glad I got them anyway. Pigmented, comfortable, lasts really long and smells soooo good. I really love DOC!

3. Bioderma Sensibio H2O

I really like this makeup remover. It feels like water but is able to take off my makeup really well. Doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky or anything like that. I still need to use a proper oil-based makeup remover for my mascara and eyelash glue though, but I guess that's because waterproof mascaras need oil to be removed and we all know how tough eyelash glue is to remove.

4. Braids
I've been obsessed with doing braids recently. It's mostly because I'm trying to grow out my fringe so my hair is really awkward looking right now. So i try to braid my hair whenever I go out to keep it away from my face. I've mostly been loving dutch braids. I personally think dutch braids look way nicer than french braids so I've been doing that mostly.

I've also been loving the fishtail braid.

I did this on my mom. I forgot to take a picture when I did it on myself.

Non-beauty related

Anime: Natsume Yuujinchou

For the past few weeks I've been so obsessed with this anime! I don't even remember how I managed to find it since it's not really famous but I love it so much! It has definitely made its way into the list of my top favourite animes  It is about this boy, Natsume, who can see youkai, which are like ghosts and monsters, that normal humans can't see. He befriends this fat cat who is a youkai and every episode is about them meeting and interacting with other yokai and humans. This anime has like 4 seasons already and I heard the 5th season is coming.

What I love most about this anime is how heart warming and touching the episodes are. I've teared up numerous times and this show just does things to my heart. And the cat. OMGGGG IT'S THE CUTEST THING EVER!! All he does is eat and make really funny remarks and always fights with natsume but it's hilarious. I just love those 2 together. If you haven't heard of it, go check it out! It's a really chill and laid-back anime which will make u smile and tear up. You'll love it :)

The OP and ED and OST for this anime are all really nice too. Been obsessively replaying them the past week. Haha!

Song: Pierrot by Senka feat. Hatsune Miku

I first heard a guitar cover of this song and I found it so beautiful so I searched for the original song. Watch the video, it tells such a beautiful but sad story. It made me cry so hard. Senka (the singer) is really amazing though. He is able to sing both male and female voice which is plain crazy to me. His female voice is really beautiful and his male voice is sexy too. How is it even possible for someone to be able to have such a huge vocal range?? He amazes me, but sadly he has ceased all activity under this name and has restarted with a new name.

That's all for now, but I hope I inspired you to try something new!

Love,
Mel

Circle lens review: Super Pinky Lenses

Hello!

I'm here for another circle lens review! This time it's from the brand Super Pinky.

I first tried super pink lenses when I was 20. I'm 22 now by the way. I have tried blue, green, wine red and lastly, violet from the Super Pinky brand. As usual, I bought them from Honey Color. Link: https://www.honeycolor.com/color-contact-lenses/popular-brands/super-pinky

For this review, I would be using the violet ones. I will also briefly talk about the other colors that I have tried and insert whatever pictures I can find. In general, I really like Super Pinky as you can probably tell from how many colors I've used already. Anyway, lets begin the review.

It comes in the typical glass vial as usual. Image taken from the honey color website.

It is 14.8mm in diameter and has 45% water content. Yearly wear.

This is how they look like in my case:

On one eye:

You can see how much bigger the lens is compared to me own iris size.

On both eyes:

With some eyeliner and falsies:

I'm using dolly wink lashes. Number 10 for the top lashes and number 14 for bottom lashes.

Full face:

I'm wearing nudestix in the shade belle in case you're wondering what's on my lips!

Design of lenses: 4/5
I really like the design of these. I think it's quite a natural design and looks really nice on the eyes.

Vividness: 4.5/5
Super Pinky lenses definitely show up very vividly! All of the colors I've tried already showed up really well. You can see for yourself in the pictures.

Eye enlargement: 5/5
These lenses are huge. They will make your eyes look huge. Plus because they are so vivid also, they will really make your eyes stand out.

Naturalness: 3.5/5
Violet is an unnatural color. Not gonna lie, when I first tried them on, I thought it looked weird on me. And because they make your eyes look so huge, eye makeup is kind of a must for these, otherwise it really looks weird. But once I got used to wearing violet, I no longer found it unnatural and sometimes all I do is curl my lashes when I have no time for makeup. I grew to really love having violet eyes. Blue is also really intense and not very natural but they also grew on me. Green was very natural and pretty on me. Wine red is unnatural of course but really unique; I loved it too.

Comfort: 4/5
Here is where the colors I've tried kind of defer. I found blue, green and violet to be comfortable. However, to me, Super Pinky lenses require getting used to. When I first started to wear a fresh pair, they can get uncomfortable after around 6 hours. But I feel like the more I wear them, the more comfortable they become. I can wear them for more than 12 hours once my eyes are used to them. Like I said before, I wear a pair of lenses at a time, so the current pair is worn daily. They only start to get uncomfortable after the usual 3 month mark and I threw out my violet ones after about 3 and half months of wear.

The only uncomfortable one for me was wine red, but I think I got a bad batch. The first time I wore them they were fine. But subsequently, whenever I tried to wear them again, the left lens would hurt my eye like crazy and I can't even have them on for more than 5 seconds. It hurts so much that I have to take them off immediately. It could be just a bad batch because the right side as completely fine. It was a shame though. Wine red was such an interesting color and I only got to wear it for 1 day. I did take pics though!

To sum up, Super Pinky is one of my favourite circle lens brands and I've already repurchased green and blue but haven't worn them yet. I also bought hazel and maybe I'll do a separate review for it when I get to it. Maybe I'll give wine red a chance again someday? And also try out grey! I really recommend this brand.

So now for the pictures! Bear in mind that these are pictures I dug out from the past few years so I was younger and didn't have much makeup on for some of the pictures. It's like a flashback of my past 3 years while looking through my pictures. Haha. I had fun looking through my old pictures for these. If you're wondering who that guy is in some of my pictures, he's my boyfriend. Enjoy!

Violet:

Green:
These were all taken in Gold Coast, Australia!

Blue:

Wine Red:

Woah that's a lot of digging through old photos, but I hope I helped you to decide whether you want to get these lenses!

Love,
Mel

Circle lens review: Sweet bliss green

Hey everyone!

Here is my first ever review for this blog! It will be on the circle lenses from the brand Sweet Bliss and in the color green! I actually bought this pair of lenses last year and used them last year. I kept wanting to review these but I was so lazy. I've procrastinated long enough. Let's do this!

Let's start off with the basic info. I bought these from honeycolor and this is the link: https://www.honeycolor.com/sweet-bliss-green
These cost US$23.90 but I bought them during a sale so I only paid $11.95 for a pair. I bought a whole bunch of lenses that time and I'll definitely do a review on the rest when I wear them! Also, Honeycolor has sales pretty often so I suggest waiting for a sale before purchase anything from their website.

They come in the typical glass vials that circle lenses come in but I threw them away before taking a picture so I'll just take the picture from their website.

They are 14.5mm in diameter and have 42% water content. According to the website, you can wear them for a year but I threw them away after 3 months.

This is how they look like in my contact lens case submerged in solution:

All my pictures are taken in natural sunlight by the way. Sorry if it looks a little dark but I didn't want to use bright lights which might affect how they look.

This is how it looks on one eye:

Sorry for my messy brows! Did not have the time to get them done at that time. I'm not wearing any eye makeup at all in this picture, but look how much bigger the lens is compared to my own eye!

Lenses on both eyes:

With some eyeliner and falsies:

Sorry for my terrible bottom eyelash application but this was the only picture I could find that's a closeup of my eyes with these lenses and falsies on. The top lashes are from house of lashes in the style natural and bottom lashes are dolly wink number 14.

Full face with lenses and makeup:

Onto the review.

Design of lenses:
I bought this pair with a bunch of other lenses also and when I received them, my first thought was, these lenses look weird. The other ones I bought look more normal in comparison. The pattern of this pair is definitely unique and unusual! These lenses have that thick black ring around it which helps to make your eyes look bigger. They look kind of weird by themselves but I think on my black eyes, they look quite okay. To be honest, the more I wore them, the more they grew on me and I grew to really love them.

Comfort: 4.5/5
These lenses are really comfortable. I'm someone who, once I open a pair of lenses, I wear it every time I go out. I don't like having multiple pairs of lenses open at a time because it's a waste to me, so I use them a pair at a time. Also, there are days where I wear them for really long hours. Like if I go to school in the morning and go out with my friends after and reach home late at night, we could be talking about 12 to 16 hours of wear. Of course they would get uncomfortable by them, but it is bearable to me. I do not use eye drops at all, and I don't bring the lens solution out also to re-wet them or anything. These lenses are there and untouched from the moment I put them on to the moment I take them off. I would say that they start to feel uncomfortable after about 8 hours of wear.

Vividness: 5/5
The green of these lenses are pretty intense to me. Like, you can definitely tell my eyes are green when I have these on. I hate wearing colored lenses where the color does not show, because what's the point? I might as well wear clear lenses if you can't even tell my eyes are green. The green is somewhat of a dark forest green on my black eyes.

Eye enlargement: 4.5/5
These definitely make my eyes look bigger, especially because of the black ring. 14.5mm is also pretty big, but not the biggest I have worn.

Overall, I really liked this Sweet bliss green lenses and it was definitely a pleasant surprise. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did when I first saw them, but like I said, they grew on me and I was sad to throw them out. I totally recommend them. I would definitely re-purchase in the future when I have gone through my huge collection of lenses but in a different color.

Here are some pictures of me wearing these lenses at different places, with different clothes and makeup so you can get a rough idea of how they look like in different lighting. Some pictures were taken with just my phone camera and some with a proper digital camera. Ps, I like wigs.

Hope my first post was helpful to someone!

Mel
